  16. INSTALLATION:

  18. Chess Tiger comes with an additional file that must be installed
  19. together with the main program (ChessTiger.prc).
  20.  
  21. So when you install the program, you actually have to install the
  22. following two files on your handheld:

  25.   book.pdb

  42. * SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVED CHESS ENGINE: the new engine is faster,
  43.   and has more knowledge. It plays better chess. Depending on
  44.   your needs that means a better professor or a better opponent!

  46. * CONTEXTUAL HELP: just hold the stylus on any icon for one full
  47.   second and Chess Tiger explains what the icon does.

  49. * LIST OF CAPTURED PIECES: Allows you to see at a glance who has

  62.   value if you want the ultimate playing strength.

  68. * This version includes a workaround for a problem with the
  69.   Handspring TrΘo phone. This device does not handle the setting
  70.   of the "auto off time" correctly and caused the Chess Tiger
  71.   application to turn the device off on startup.
  72.   If you have a Handspring TrΘo and have trouble launching
  73.   Chess Tiger, you should DELETE your current version of Chess
  74.   Tiger from your TrΘo and install this new version (as usual,
  75.   please install BOTH ChessTiger.prc AND book.pdb).

  124. * 2 PLAYERS MODE: In this mode the program does not play, it
  125.   just checks the moves you enter. This mode can be used to play
  126.   against a friend, or to force an opening of your choice that you
  127.   want to play against the computer.

  129. * ANALYSIS MODE: When you are in "2 players" mode, you can turn
  130.   the "analysis" on. The program is going to display its thinking, but
  131.   it will not play. You can use this mode for example to replay a game
  132.   and look for blunders or missed opportunities.

  134. * HINT: Gives you a hint when you really do not know what to do.

  136. * GO TO MOVE #: Allows you to go directly to a given move
  137.   instead of repeatedly taping on "back" or "forward" to reach this
  138.   move.

  141.   * Tapping on the best line switches to the "max info" view (the view
  142.     with a small board and a lot of space for the best line).
  143.     Tapping again on the best line returns to the previous view.
  144.   * Tapping on "Move #" allows to go directly to a given move number.
  145.   * Tapping on "Thinking" stops the program's thinking.
  146.   * Tapping on "Analyzing" exits from analysis mode.

  149.   * select the animation speed (slow, normal, fast or no animation).
  150.   * enable/disable the use of the "Find" button as a way to switch

  153.   * give a specific auto off time for Chess Tiger (so the device does
  154.     not turn itself off when the program is thinking).
